Rockets shot from Israel to Palestine and return fire from Palestine to Israel over several decades have displaced millions of people from their homes since the direction of a certain foreign mandate. These are only some of the terrible events that are happening between Israel and Palestine. This all started after World War I when the Ottoman Empire fell in 1918. The League of Nations mandate dictated that Britain ruled over Palestine. It is and was a popular belief that after World War II, the Jewish people moved to Palestine because they had no home. This was untrue as the British had the longstanding idea to move the Jewish people to Palestine. Even Germany agreed with this movement as they thought every nation should have their own state. Britain’s idea was that the Arabs already living there could retain their rights and land. The Jewish people would be a majority of the population and could outvote the Arab minority of Palestine for political issues, if necessary. However, at that time, the Jewish population in Palestine was a minority of about 10 percent. There was not enough Jewish people migrating to Jerusalem. The Arabs already living in Palestine were resisting Britain’s mandate by force and eventually, the British withdrew their influence leaving the Jewish and Arab people to fight over Palestine. The biggest controversy is over a piece of land called the Gaza Strip, which is about twice the size of the District of Columbia. The Arab terrorist group, Hamas, and Israel have continued in an endless cycle of shooting rockets at each other, barricading people from crossing the Gaza Strip, and having a cease fire. Hopefully, this madness can end and both groups will come to an agreement.
